When selecting the right winch capacity, consider the weight of your boat, including the motor, fuel, and gear. As a general rule:

Minimum Winch Capacity = Maximum Weight of Boat, Including Motor, Fuel, Gear ÷ 2

Example Calculation:

• Boat, Motor, Fuel, Gear Weight = 3600 lbs
• Minimum Winch Capacity = 3600 ÷ 2 = 1800 lbs
